We are looking for experts in the position of "Data Scientist / Mathematical Modeling" to join the Energy Markets Hub team at E.ON Energy Markets, formally under E.ON Czech Republic. Our team of experts focuses on mathematical modeling, energy-economic issues, and data science. Our main role is to understand and manage market risks for retail sales. We use modern technologies to enhance our work and continuously improve and bring new solutions. Our goal is sustainable energy and supporting business decisions using modern statistical methods. What will you be doing with us? 

  • The foundation of the role is to understand the dynamics of energy markets, risks, and fundamentals.  

  • You will create data-driven solutions from design to commercial deployment.  

  • You will be involved in the continuous improvement of machine learning methods and their applications for predicting energy prices, energy consumption and production, with applications for risk assessment and portfolio analysis.  

  • You will be programming in Microsoft Azure in close collaboration with the DevOps team.  

Our tech stack: 

  • We currently use typed Python 3.10 (pytest, flake8, and mypy in our continuous integration process).  

  • For data analysis and machine learning, we use pandas, scikit-learn, XGBoost, Tensorflow, and other related tools.  

  • We use FastAPI, Dash, and Streamlit for web services.  

  • Our cloud infrastructure is built on Microsoft Azure, which includes Azure ML, Azure DevOps, Data Bricks, Kubernetes and Snowflake 

What we need from you?

You don't have to be Superman but there are a few qualities / knowledge we need from you ...

  • successfully completed university degree or comparable qualification in natural science, mathematics, economics or a related technical discipline 

  • proven experience in programming, preferably in Python

  • strong commercial mindset, which you combine with an analytical and structured way of thinking and strong motivation to deliver commercial results

  • excellent communication skills in combination with assertiveness and engagement

  • statistics enthusiastic

  • embracing opportunities to learn and develop yourself through working with colleagues across all of E.ON’s operating regions 

  • excellent spoken and written communication skills in English, another European language is seen as a plus 

  • place of work: Prague
