Main Purpose
IT Platforms & Engineering Enablement Tribe provides shared technology platforms and services that enable secure, scalable, and efficient digital delivery across the organization. The tribe brings together three key product areas: Integration (including BPM, RPA, and Process Orchestration), Enterprise Content & Output Management, and Development & Platform Engineering.
The Tribe serves customer Tribes, product and application teams, and key technology partners across architecture, engineering and digital transformation. Through shared integration, process automation, content, communication and application delivery platforms, it enables secure and reliable operations, reduces manual effort and complexity, and increases the autonomy of product teams through standardised and self-service capabilities.
The tribe defines technology standards, governance frameworks, and self-service capabilities for integration, document and communication services, as well as the entire application development, deployment, and operations lifecycle. Its mission is to reduce technology complexity, promote standardization, automation, and reusability, and enable product teams to deliver business value faster and more reliably.
The Tribe Leader of IT Platforms & Engineering Enablement is a senior technology leader accountable for the end-to-end technology landscape of a Tribe. The role ensures that the Tribe’s products and services are built on scalable, secure, and sustainable technology solutions that enable business strategy and customer outcomes. The Tribe Leader forms the leadership of the Tribe, ensuring strong alignment between business priorities and technology capabilities. The Tribe Leader owns the Tribe’s technical architecture, engineering standards, and technology delivery performance while maintaining high levels of operational stability and quality.
In the absence of a dedicated Tribe Leader, the Tribe Leader also provides overall Tribe leadership, ensuring alignment between technology strategy, customer value, business priorities, investment decisions, and long-term Tribe outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and communicate the Tribe vision, strategic direction, and priorities in alignment with enterprise technology strategy and business needs.
- Act as the primary senior stakeholder interface for the Tribe and align priorities across business domains, architecture, engineering, and platform consumers.
- Define, evolve, and own the Tribe’s technology strategy in alignment with enterprise IT strategy and architecture principles.
- Own and drive end-to-end value delivery of shared platforms and enablement services, ensuring measurable business outcomes for consuming Tribes and product teams.
- Ensure that all solutions delivered by product teams comply with architectural standards, security policies, and non-functional requirements (reliability, performance, resilience, data protection).
- Oversee system architecture and technical design across the Tribe’s products, platforms, and integrations, ensuring long-term scalability and maintainability.
- Provide governance over engineering standards, development practices, and technical quality across product teams.
- Ensure sustainable and reliable technology delivery by monitoring engineering productivity, delivery health, and system stability.
- Coordinate and manage technology dependencies across product teams, other Tribes, and platform or shared-service teams. Shapes organizational design and team structures to improve Tribe effectiveness.
- Translate business strategy and product vision into feasible, high-quality, and scalable technology solutions.
- Focus on people development, capability building, and allocation of engineering talent.
- Promote a strong engineering culture based on ownership, collaboration, learning, and continuous improvement.
- Take accountability for the operational health of systems within the Tribe, balancing innovation and change with stability and sustainability.
- Promotes and shares best practices to increase engineering maturity across the organization.
- Own prioritization of the Tribe portfolio and backlog, balancing platform sustainability, modernization, operational stability, technical debt reduction, and business demand.
- Owns and optimizes the Tribe IT budget in collaboration with IT Controlling.
- Ensures compliance with architecture and governance processes, including decision and approval boards.
- Accountable for investment prioritization, resource allocation, and value realization of Tribe investments.
- Connect Tribes, domains, and platform teams to maximize enterprise-wide value creation and reduce organizational silos.

Actively facilitates alignment in situations of conflict or differing perspectives.

Ensures adherence to technology standards, security requirements, and regulatory constraints. Owns non-functional requirements such as reliability, performance, resilience, and data protection. Promotes strong engineering discipline, accountability, and transparency across teams.

Supports the growth of engineering talent and technical capabilities within the Tribe. Works closely with Chapter Leads to foster learning, mentoring, and knowledge sharing. Builds an engineering culture that values collaboration, craftsmanship, ownership, and continuous development. Builds an environment of psychological safety, inclusion, and mutual respect. Promotes a culture of responsibility not only for systems, but also for people and team wellbeing.
