About the team

The chapter represents all experts who deliver data and AI engineering capabilities to our product teams. These experts are organized together to enhance those functional skillsets, improve E.ON’s MLOps & AIOps tech stack and deliver a high level of data delivery & model automation. Our team operates in an international environment, providing you with the opportunity to work with people from diverse backgrounds and contribute global perspectives to your work. You will collaborate with agile and supportive colleagues who are eager to share their knowledge and experience.

The Data Search Architecture is empowering E.ON to deliver exceptional user experiences and drive business growth. As an Enterprise Search Engineer (f/m/d) you will manage and optimize the search functionality of E.ON's applications and systems. Related tasks cover the configuration and tuning of the corporate search engine to ensure an optimal performance and accurate results. Additionally, you will design and implement search features that meet specific needs of E.ON and its users.

meaningful & challenging - Your tasks 

• Design and engineer enterprise search solutions aligned with business requirements, leveraging Lucene-based technologies such as Elasticsearch and Apache Solr
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to grasp their search needs and translate them into actionable technical specifications for enterprise search solutions
• Engineer and design search solutions capable of efficiently ingesting data from diverse sources including Databases, SharePoint, FTP servers, and web crawling mechanisms
• Develop solutions for near real-time search functionality, batch data ingestion, and effective data crawling to ensure timely and comprehensive search results
• Implement Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) processes to enrich and preprocess data, enhancing its relevance and usability within the search solution
• Engineer and implement intuitive search user interfaces encompassing search forms, facets, and filters to enhance user experience and usability
• Actively engage in testing and fine-tuning of the search solution, focusing on performance optimization and load testing to ensure scalability and reliability

authentic & ambitious - Your profile 

• Bachelor's or Master´s degree in Computer Science, Information technology, or a related field as well as multiple years of experience in designing and implementing enterprise search solutions
• Strong experience with search technologies such as Elasticsearch and Solr, involving a solid understanding of search relevancy, indexing, and search algorithms
• Understanding of keyword search, fuzzy search and vector search, search UI design and development
• Experience with integrating search solutions with search client applications, as well as with data sources, CMS systems etc.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, confident and engaging communication with internal and external partners embodying a strong service orientation
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
