Responsibilities
- Assure the quality of the electrical integration for utility-scale BESS projects (incl. grid connection certification)
- Act as the key technical integrator in projects between EIS, TSOs/DSOs, EPC contractors, OEMs, and engineering consultants
- Coordinate interfaces between substations, HV/MV equipment, protection systems, SCADA, EMS, and BESS assets
- Ensure requirements towards substation (until grid integration EPCs are complete) and manage technical quality at interface with EPC
- Review engineering deliverables and ensure compliance with project requirements and grid connection standards
- Support project development, procurement, construction, commissioning/energization
- Identify and mitigate technical and commercial risks
- Manage external engineering partners and EPC contractors throughout project delivery
Requirements
- Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline, with proven experience in utility-scale BESS, renewable energy, transmission, distribution, or substation projects, from conceptual phase until commissioning/energization
- Understanding of protection, control and SCADA systems, with ability to review, challenge, and validate engineering studies, designs, and technical documentation
- Familiar with grid connection processes (incl. grid connection certification), German and other European grid connection requirements, and TSO/DSO processes
- Experience with managing EPC contractors, engineering consultancies or Owner’s Engineers, and technical interface coordination across multidisciplinary engineering teams
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, influencing, and decision-making skills, with ability to identify risks, assess implications, and drive pragmatic solutions
- Commercial awareness of project risks, priorities, cost, schedule, contractual interfaces, and delivery objectives
- Fluent in German and English (C1), with 20-40% travel flexibility
