We’re looking for an experienced Contracts Manager to lead the safe, efficient and commercially sound delivery of our Staffordshire County Council (SCC) PFI portfolio within E.ON Utility Solutions.

This role plays a key part in shaping both current and post-PFI operations, overseeing activity across multiple depots within the Staffordshire region and supporting wider regional requirements as needed.

Working closely with Business Operations Managers and internal teams, you’ll provide strategic leadership across short, medium and long-term planning. You’ll be responsible for ensuring strong client relationships are maintained and developed, supporting service excellence while identifying opportunities for growth within the existing PFI scope and the wider business.

The role spans operational delivery, technical leadership and compliance, with oversight of reactive and planned maintenance, asset replacement and LED investment programmes, alongside any additional works associated with PFI handback or future opportunities. You’ll lead and develop a multidisciplinary team and take a proactive, innovative approach to improving performance, managing risk and delivering value for both our clients and E.ON.

Main responsibilities:

  • Ensuring all delivery activity is managed and executed in a safe manner meeting the company’s time, cost and quality objectives.
  • Ensure all activity meets internal and external environmental legislation & standards
  • Maintain & develop key customer relationships and daily focus on Client management. 
  • Management and responsible for all technical aspects of service delivery for Staffordshire PFI contract. Provide electrical and technical expertise on all aspects of lighting, including a current and strategic direction
  • Preparation and submission of specialist project quotations and programmes.
  • Management and responsibility for the operational delivery team and all aspects of operational and financial performance within the Staffordshire PFI Region, to deliver operational and financial targets.
  • Understand and implement all potential synergies between depots across the region and other EUS departments or Stakeholders
  • Assist the Business Operations Manager to develop a budget and associated strategic business plan for the growth of the area, monitoring progress against targets and initiating corrective action.
  • Ownership of the Staffordshire PFI P&L account.
  • Monitor and Improve performance (if applicable) using the performance management process ensuring objectives and behaviours are set, reviewed and signed off accordingly.
  • Support the development and training plans process to meet the requirement of the business
  • Work with other Utility Solutions Managers to promote an environment which strives for continuous improvement and the implementation of best practice

What we need from you

  • Proven ability to simultaneously manage several operational depots, workstreams, covering diverse activities
  • A professional qualification in a relevant electrical engineering and/or project management discipline.
  • An understanding of electrical engineering and the technical and operational requirements relevant to the activity.
  • A strong track record of delivery of performance targets, including finance, customer service
  • An understanding of management accounting and demonstrate ability to forecast, manage and monitor the team budget, including identification of opportunities to deliver increased revenue and/or make budget savings.
  • Able to demonstrate a good understanding of relevant health and safety responsibilities with a detailed knowledge of Utility site safety procedures.
  • Manage business risks and organisation reputation effectively through regular assessment and management of risks and issues.
  • Lead, motivate and manage the team to meet operational requirements and manage performance that inspires excellence in terms of customer and commercial focus and innovative solutions.
