Data Engineer

Here's what you'll be doing

Salary - £49,995 to £63,832
Location - Nottingham - NG1 4BX, Citigen - EC1M 6PB, Westwood - CV4 8LG

Hybrid working - 1 to 2 days per week in the office

Right now, we're looking for a Data Engineer to join us and support with the digitalisation of data and reporting within the Heat Networks area of the business. This will be done through the design, build and maintenance of a suite of reporting assets which will be used to drive performance insights across the Heat Networks business. In this role you will own the end-to-end process of defining and delivering operational, contract and commercial reporting, as well as collaborating with product owners and stakeholders at various levels of the business.

You will need to quickly develop an in-depth knowledge of the Heat Networks business to support our data and reporting needs, and identify new reporting capabilities to add value to the business. As well as this, you will need to quickly enhance your knowledge with an understanding of the energy industry and relevant external developments that may influence business decisions.

 

Here's what else you'll be doing 

  • Deliver high quality business information, reporting and dashboards using SQL & Excel

  • Deliver data extracts to support the business functions with adhoc analysis requirements.

  • Identification and root cause analysis of issues relating to data quality, gaps or inconsistencies.

  • Support the development of business requirement documents, other business analysis and solution definition outputs related to the delivery of high-quality data and reporting.

  • Build relationships and work collaboratively across the UK Digital Technology and Energy Infrastructure Solutions business to develop MI/BI analytics whilst reporting best practices.

  • Engage and advise operational teams to key focus areas highlighted through KPI dashboarding.

  • Provide the wider organisation with expertise and consultancy on Heat Networks business process, data and reporting management.

  • Support the Heat Networks business to identify opportunities where users can self-serve data and reporting needs through adoption of the new technology platforms that are being delivered across UK and other countries.

What we need from you

Essential

  • Strong experience of Data analysis and reporting development, demonstrating how this has added value to the business and/or customers.
  • Experience of an analytical based role in an operational environment, with the use of SQL, Snowflake and handling large-scale data sets.
  • Experience using modern data visualisation software such as Qlik, Tableau, Power BI
  • Excellent numerical and analytical skills with the ability to analyse data and present in a clear and logical format.
  • Strong financial and commercial awareness
  • Ability to identify, communicate and solve complex problems.
  • Ability to establish, develop and maintain effective relationships with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience of working closely with stakeholders to derive value from Data and Analytics over the full delivery lifecycle.
  • Experience of having direct responsibility for Data analysis activities on sizable projects through the full life cycle
  • Engineer requirements in such a way as to maximise the opportunity to standardise and re-use Data and information assets across the Heat Networks and EIS UK organisation.

Desirable

  • Understanding of the Heat Networks business and its key data points.

  • Ability to see the wider picture and adept at planning well ahead.

  • Influence and shape ideas and solutions to ensure that Data and its value is managed as a strategic asset.

  • Apply focus to the translation of strategic intent/ ideas into viable projects.
