Contracts Lead

Here's what you'll be doing

E.ON UK Green Funding Solutions is a new and exciting team, developed from nothing to approximately 130 people and £70m - £100m revenue, in 3 years.

Our remit is to secure external funding for 'green' solutions for our most vulnerable customers and households. This ranges from insulation, solar panels and heat pump programmes, through to innovative low carbon heating propositions. We are helping 1000's of customers each year to be safer, warmer and have more affordable bills.

As a Contracts Lead, you will oversee the full contract lifecycle for individual projects, supporting the successful delivery of E.ON UK’s Green Funding Solutions portfolio. You’ll play a key role in securing high-value contracts, working closely with both internal teams and senior external stakeholders. To thrive in this role, you’ll bring strong influencing skills, the ability to collaborate effectively, and the confidence to build trusted relationships at all levels.

Key responsibilities

  • Manage the end-to-end development, negotiation and execution of construction contracts and legal documents. (e.g., JCT, bespoke service agreements LOI, NDA and MOU)

  • Prepare and edit contracts between E.ON  and potential customers in a timely manner, ensuing internal and external timescales are met.
  • Work closely with E.ON’s legal team to ensure all contracts are robust, sufficiently protect the business and have relevant approvals
  • Lead contract negotiation with customers legal representatives, serving as the main liaison with outside contracting representatives.  This includes driving sound commercial outcomes.
  • Build strong relationships with customers legal advisors and those managing the contract negotiations on the customers behalf
  • Maintain various contractual suites of documents, ensuring a consistent approach across all documents including appropriate flow down or passing up of risks.
  • Ensure liability and indemnity levels are negotiated appropriately with Legal Team approvals gained where appropriate.
  • Review data sharing agreements and ensuring they are robust and comply with GDPR requirements.
  • Regularly review existing standard templates, forms, and processes to ensure they are still fit for purpose.

What we need from you

  • Proven experience in a legal and commercial environment, with a strong focus on drafting and negotiating construction contracts, ideally using standard forms such as JCT.
  • Effective stakeholder and project coordination skills with the ability to manage the commercial and contractual aspects of construction projects, including obtaining and collating specialist advice from other internal teams (such as the Construction, Commercial  and Legal Teams) to ensure a consistent set of documentation.
  • Strong written communication skills, with excellent attention to detail and the ability to draft and edit contracts clearly and concisely.
  • Experience working with standard contract documentation and incorporating bespoke provisions to ensure risks are clearly defined and appropriately managed for both contractor and client.
  • Confident communicator, with the ability to work to tight deadlines, able to influence discussions and outcomes when needed.
