We are seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor (SQS) to join our Green Funding Solutions team. Green Funding Solutions works with local authorities and housing associations to tackle fuel poverty, delivering large-scale retrofit programmes for social housing. Using government funding schemes, the team makes homes warmer and more energy-efficient, and has established itself as a market leader, recognised with multiple regional and national awards.
The Senior Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for the commercial management of multiple complex, multi-disciplinary projects from conception through to completion. They will lead and motivate their team to successfully deliver energy efficiency and renewable projects, ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, on budget, and to the highest quality standards.
Key responsibilities
- Advise the Commercial and Construction teams on the best approaches to achieve successful project outcomes, seeking best value for money while delivering a safe, quality service.
- Manage contract placement and administration, including NEC and JCT contracts, bespoke service agreements, CQR processes, valuations, variations, change notices and formal notices.
- Create and manage robust project commercial controls to ensure projects are delivered to budget, including cost analysis, cost performance reporting, profit and loss reporting and monitoring project performance from a contractual, commercial and financial perspective.
- Lead procurement and tendering activity in line with the E.ON Supply Chain strategy, including preparation of procurement plans, tender documentation, tender assessments and supporting negotiations with suppliers and contractors.
- Manage internal and external relationships, including contractors, suppliers and internal service providers, ensuring approvals, compliance and alignment with E.ON’s brand and values while developing strategic partnerships to maximise value.
- Provide commercial and contractual support to delivery teams, resolving disputes, advising on commercial risks, potential delays and variations, and leading negotiations where required.
- Work independently as the construction commercial specialist for the project team, with a high degree of autonomy in setting contracting strategy and approving best value options for E.ON.
- Undertake site visits and manage associated commercial activities, including valuation measures, subcontract applications and invoices, SAP administration, insurance claims and customer complaints in line with company procedures.
What we need from you
- A degree or equivalent in a commercial or quantity surveying subject, with significant experience in a Quantity Surveying role.
- Experience within the Construction, M&E and Civil Engineering sectors, with a strong understanding of construction law and demonstrable experience.
- Strong financial, commercial and management experience, including tender assessment, negotiations, specification writing and contract negotiation.
- Excellent communication, influencing and negotiating skills, with the ability to take a confident and diplomatic approach with internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data and present it clearly and logically.
- A proactive, creative and strategic approach to problem solving and supply chain management.
- Proficiency in PC-based systems, with the ability to adapt quickly to change.
- Full UK driving license
