E.ON UK Network Assets Limited is a new E.ON business that will operate as a licensed (IDNO) Independent Distribution Network Operator. The business will be regulated by OFGEM and other industry standards. The business has ambitions to secure a sizable market share and be a market leader in the competition in connections market space.
You will join the project team tasked with developing and managing the technical function of the IDNO business. Leading a team that will provide direct technically focused operational support to the business and monitor key performance indicators that align with business needs.
As the Design/Technical Operations Manager, you will be instrumental in the development, operation, and growth of our IDNO business.
Main Responsibilities of the role
- Leading the Technical Strategy: Develop, implement, and maintain technical processes and procedures for asset adoption and network operations, ensuring compliance with Ofgem regulations and industry standards.
- Shaping Network Standards: Define and oversee the IDNO’s G81 design standards, EHV and 132kV specifications, and construction processes to ensure safety, compliance, and efficiency.
- Driving Excellence in Network Design: Lead the design function and working closely with ICP’s, DNO’s, and key stakeholders ensuring standards of performance are met.
- Collaboration with ICP’s, Developers, Consultants and Industry Partners: Build strong working relationships to ensure seamless network integration and efficient design approvals.
- Industry Representation: Represent E.ON UK Network Assets Limited on relevant industry forums and actively engage in discussions shaping the future of IDNO’s and energy distribution.
- Work with the IDNO leadership team to develop robust standard operating procedures, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the business.
What we need from you
- Degree or HND in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent qualification with relevant experience).
- Experience in power network design across 11kV to 132kV networks.
- Strong understanding of technical and regulatory standards for network design, construction, and operation.
- Experience in network modelling and design software (e.g., WinDEBUT, VisNet Design, IPSA, AutoCAD, or similar).
- Knowledge of health & safety laws applicable to the electricity distribution sector.
- Ability to engage with ICPs, DNOs, and developers to ensure smooth project execution.
- Possess excellent communication skills and be confident in a client facing role.
It would be great if you have
- Chartered Engineer status.
