About the position
Electrification is key to reaching society’s climate goals. For this reason, University West has launched the graduate school Electrification for a Sustainable Energy System, in close collaboration with partners including E.ON and Uppsala University.

As an industrial PhD student, you will:

• Be enrolled at and receive your degree from the Department of Electrical Engineering at Uppsala University.
• Receive supervision from researchers at University West, Uppsala University, and E.ON.
• Combine doctoral studies and coursework with independent dissertation work within our organization.

Your research will focus on how cable systems can become more sustainable and circular. Among other things, you will:

• Identify and analyze circular material and installation solutions with a reduced climate footprint.
• Develop innovative methods for cable deinstallation and recycling.
• Contribute knowledge that strengthens our and the industry’s ability to make sustainable decisions.

You will also share your results in various forums, contribute to other projects within E.ON, and occasionally teach at the university. This is a unique opportunity to combine research with real-world impact in the energy industry.

Your background
We are looking for someone with a Master’s degree in a relevant field, who is passionate about sustainability, development, and innovation. This means you have completed at least 240 higher education credits (ECTS), of which at least 60 are at the advanced level, or equivalent.

You are curious and proactive, unafraid to challenge conventional methods to find new ways forward. Your strong communication skills enable you to share ideas and results clearly, both verbally and in writing.
