E.ON UK operates one of the largest Street Lighting Contracting businesses in the UK with a strong presence in the East and West Midlands. We manage four Street Lighting PFIs, including a key role in the Staffordshire PFI, where we work closely with local authorities to deliver high-quality street lighting services. Our operations extend to most local authorities in the regions we serve. We also provide connection and jointing services for many of the UK's leading housing developers and hold agreements to work on Distribution Network Operator (DNO) networks across the UK.
As a Jointer, you'll have the opportunity to work on the Staffordshire PFI project, which involves maintaining and upgrading street lighting infrastructure to ensure reliable and efficient service delivery. You will supervise multi-skilled teams, be conversant with all aspects of Highways Lighting, and be capable of carrying out all connections onto distribution and private networks associated with DNO unmetered supplies. Experience and authorisations in DNO networks are essential, with full competency in plastic and PILC connections.
You will also play a key role in promoting HSSE standards on the Staffordshire PFI and other projects, ensuring that all training sessions are attended and that all work is completed safely and in accordance with E.ON's Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality policies and procedures.
Key responsibilities
- Carry out mains and service cable jointing on electrical distribution networks DNO.
- Immediate supervision of Jointers Mates.
- Providing personal supervision and training of Apprentices.
- Driving general and specialist vehicles appropriate to the role.
- Hold relevant DNO authorisations to work on distribution networks.
- Ensure personnel under control fully understand and adhere to their job requirements.
- Taking full ownership for personal health and safety responsibilities and that of the team ensuring PPE is always worn.
- The ability to work on own initiative or as part of a team.
- The ability to always take a confident but diplomatic approach to customers.
- Carry out risk assessments and maintain safe working practices.
What we need from you
- Recognised Electrical Apprenticeship or Street lighting and LV services training programme.
- C&G 236 pt 1 and pt 2 or equivalent with extensive & proven relevant trade experience.
- 18th edition BS7671 wiring regs qualification.Previous Full G39 qualification.
- Current NRSWA Accreditation.
- Electrical knowledge to C & G 236 Parts 1 & 2 /2330 Level 1 & 2 or equivalent with extensive and proven relevant trade experience.
- Current First Aid and Manual Handling certificates.
- Understanding operational and 1:500 electrical network diagrams.
- CSCS accreditation.
- A current full driving licence.
