We are looking for a Client Portfolio Manager to join our Energy Markets team based in Westwood. This role is paying from £49,995 to £63,832 along with a market leading benefits package.

Here's what you'll be doing

As a Client Portfolio Manager you will collaborate closely with a designated portfolio of clients to craft, execute, and oversee energy risk management and hedging frameworks. Your responsibilities will include developing and nurturing a comprehensive grasp of energy market fundamentals and mechanics. Utilising your expertise, you will guide our customers through the complexities of the energy market, assisting them in achieving and maximizing optimal price performance within their strategic approach.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain excellent customer relationships and deliver exceptional levels of customer service to our valuable risk-managed and strategic customer portfolio.
  • Partner with customers to understand their energy hedging requirements and risk appetite, and recommend optimal hedging strategies (where appropriate execute under a strategy mandate on the customer’s behalf).
  • Utilise detailed wholesale market knowledge and expertise to make informed and optimal decisions based on a customer’s portfolio position utilising current and anticipated market activity.
  • Continually monitor customer positions and performance, benchmarking against an metrics and strive at all times to deliver results above customer expectations.
  • Conduct regular market update calls with strategic and risk managed customers to explain how complex developments in the wholesale markets may affect their cost base. Updating on positions and any tailored course of action as appropriate.
  • Collaboratively produce insightful written daily wholesale market reports for customers, using expert market knowledge to inform price outlook assessments.
  • Actively participate in renewals and sales activity.
  • Ensure all customer hedging is within the bounds of the FPS product, recording all trades in a timely and compliant manner and trading within the bounds of a pre-agreed strategy.
  • Help foster a culture of continuous improvement and knowledge share across the team, encouraging partnering with other teams, particularly with the Forwards Trading team and nBS Sales to share market knowledge and views.
  • Provide support to the Flex Optimisation team as required, providing phone cover and aiding in the development of the Sales Traders around market knowledge and risk management.

What we need from you

Essential

  • Detailed understanding of wholesale markets and drivers
  • Strong analytical capability
  • Ability to proactively identify key issues and opportunities, create clarity and insight and provide effective support and challenge to senior customers and stakeholders.
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and prioritise workloads in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and influencing skills with the ability to deal effectively and confidently with all individuals at all levels of the business.
  • Self-motivated with exceptional relationship building skills and the ability to influence and work effectively across functional boundaries.

Desirable

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent
  • Experience working directly with customers
  • Previous experience of risk management
  • Advanced excel or VBA skills
  • A drive for continuous improvement with prior experience of driving change through ways of working, identifying opportunities for commercial optimisation and unlocking value.
  • An understanding of the Industrial & Commercial business.
