Here's what you'll be doing
As an intern with EEM UK's 'Costing & Risk' team, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing the efficiency and accuracy of our non-commodity cost forecasts. Your primary responsibility will be to implement a new Python model that forecasts the energy subsidy ‘Contracts for Difference’ (CfD). The CfD scheme costs E.ON £600m per year and rising so it’s important to forecast this cost as accurately as possible. The model has already been written so this role involves understanding this complex Python model, improving, testing, documenting and commissioning it!
Responsibilities:
- Understand and document the new CfD Python model that was written last year
- Identify and implement improvements to the model
- Thoroughly test every section of the model then conduct full end to end testing
- Coordinate parallel running with the existing CfD model
What we need from you
- Currently pursuing a degree, with a keen interest in the energy industry.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience developing a wide range of different programs in Python and other programming languages
- Excellent documentation and communication skills.
- Curiosity and a desire to provide commercial insight
- Comfortable working in teams and independently to set goals and objectives
What we need from you
- Currently pursuing a degree, with a keen interest in the energy industry.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with database management tools, especially Snowflake.
- Excellent documentation and communication skills.
- We’re looking for a placement student with strong analytical, programming and database skills to help us develop an automated system for pricing our I&C customers.

- Comfortable working independently to set goals and objectives
Here’s what you need to know
• Flexible working arrangement (anything between 10 and 37 hours a week)
• Flexible contract length to fit your studies (with a minimum commitment of 2 months), with flexible start and end date
• £24,007 pro rata salary
• Hybrid working model (with a minimum of 40% in our Coventry office)
