This is a commission based role. The commission could be up to £10k on top of the salary band figures (based on hitting £1M sales target revenue in year).
Here's what you will be doing
The Business Development Manager is focused on driving business revenue and to achieve company growth targets by targeting specific market segments of residential and commercial new build, local authorities, consultants and contractors.
As part of the role you will be responsible for the delivery of annual targeted new business sales revenue whilst increasing the spend of existing contracts by promoting the Lighting and Grid portfolio, gaining opportunities to quote and securing lighting, low voltage/high voltage network/grid connections and electric vehicle rapid charger sales.
Main Responsibilities of the role
- Achieve significant growth year-on-year through both growth in existing markets and promotion of Lighting & Grid across target market geography and segments.
- Accountability for developing and maintaining client and stakeholder relationships to drive sales.
- Work closely with customers both new and existing to understand their business requirements, gather competitor intelligence and insight into market offerings to enhance Lighting & Grid’s competitiveness.
- Follow up on leads and enquiries received from both internal and external sources.
- Support the Lighting & Grid Bid Manager by developing new and existing relationships with key customer stakeholders aligned to the L&G growth strategy.
- Monitor and report on customer engagement and sales generated.
- Support the New Business Manager and his depot’s commercial engineers in developing their existing customer contacts to drive further growth.
- Support the L&G operational management team through customer relationship management.
- Carry out appropriate hand-over sessions with the operational teams as required when new customers are onboarded and orders secured.
What we need from you
- Demonstrate experience of securing complex projects with public and private sector customers, ideally in an energy-related sector.
- Demonstrate experience in identifying and engaging new customers leading to secured orders for work in a contracting environment.
- Excellent skills in creative writing with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent personal organisation skills with the ability to manage conflicting tasks and challenging deadlines in a calm and methodical manner.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to be persuasive and influence situations, decisions and people.
- Ability to develop and sustain professional relationships and networks.
- Able to work alone and use own initiative.
- Highly competent Microsoft Office user especially in Word and Excel.
- Displays a proactive approach to customer engagement.
- Can professionally engage customer stakeholders at all levels, including senior directors.
