Here's what you'll be doing
As a Senior Innovation Manager at E.ON, you will play a crucial role in establishing our position as the "playmaker" within the energy industry. Your main responsibility will be to drive effective innovation through the end-to-end project lifecycle, enabling us to bring new and compelling solutions to our customers and the market. Innovation is a key strategic focus area for our UK business, and we are expanding our dynamic team to deliver greater value. We currently have multiple opportunities available for Innovation Managers within our UK Innovation Team.
Responsibilities:
- Report to the Innovation Leads and become a subject matter expert for your project topic.
- Lead initiatives through various phases of innovation, including defining and testing business models, developing and implementing pilots/trials/MVPs, and creating plans for scaling.
- Manage the entire project lifecycle, ensuring the development of a robust pipeline of innovative and impactful solutions.
- Assemble cross-functional and cross-business area teams to support project delivery and address any obstacles to progress.
- Support the building of innovation capabilities, culture, mindset, and community.
Definition Phase:
- Conduct quantitative and qualitative analysis to gain an understanding of your category and guide the development of your roadmap.
- Organise and lead idea generation sessions for propositions in your category.
- Use detailed analytics and experiments to evaluate the attractiveness, viability, and feasibility of propositions and business models.
- Develop testing plans to address risky assumptions and conduct live market experiments.
- Iterate until achieving results that meet the standard required to proceed to practical pilots, trials, or MVPs.
Development Phase:
- Develop and take responsibility for the plan to deliver pilots, trials, and MVPs.
- Adopt a suitable strategy to implement the plan, considering scale and complexity.
- Document lessons learned to enhance pilot projects systematically.
- Define phases to balance pace, agility, and cost by testing risky assumptions early.
- Develop marketing strategies and sales routes to support pilots.
- Define and agree on OKRs (objectives and key results) for each phase, ensuring robust measurement and reporting processes.
What we need from you
- Keen innovator with knowledge and expertise in innovation processes such as Agile Working, Lean Start Up, and Design Thinking.
- Proven track record of successfully bringing innovative solutions to market that create value for customers and stakeholders.
- Excellent project management skills, including the ability to build, lead, and motivate cross-functional teams.
- Customer-centric and collaborative approach, with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders.
- Understanding of design principles and methodologies, including translating customer insights into propositions or actionable plans.
- Keen eye for detail and commercial acumen.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Analytical mindset with problem-solving abilities using creative and innovative approaches.
- Strategic and creative mindset, with the ability to think outside the box and challenge the status quo.
- Relentless curiosity and self-drive to deliver excellent performance.
- Energy industry experience would be beneficial, but not essential.
