At E.ON we are leading the energy transition towards NET ZERO. Smart Metering is the key first step to customers understanding their energy usage. As a Dual Fuel Meter Technician, you will be installing Smart Meters in our customers' homes.
As the energy transition gathers pace there will be the opportunity to be trained in installing solutions such as Air Source Heat Pumps.

When you first start, you’ll undertake a training programme with a mix of classes at one of our first-class training facilities and working hands on in the field with a mentor as you work your way towards becoming qualified in gas and electric metering. At each stage of your journey your salary will increase and you’ll have the opportunity to join our on-call rota, earning additional income.

What we need from you
- Must have at least 3 GCSEs at grade 4(C) or above, including Maths and English. A plumbing or electrical background would be considered depending upon qualification and experience.
- A commitment to making the most of our training and gaining new qualifications.
- A passion for providing excellent customer service.
- Plenty of drive and enthusiasm and a desire to help create a smart future.
- Flexible approach to working hours and flexible approach to working area especially when undertaking your SMART Meter upskilling journey when you will be required to attend training at a first-class training facility.
- A full valid UK/EU driving licence (preferably clean but with a maximum of 6 points).

Please note you will be required to travel to an assessment centre as part of your interview. This may be outside of your home postcode.
Here’s what you need to know
- Equal maternity, paternity and secondary carer leave (up to 18 weeks paid leave in first 12 months if you become a parent/guardian)
- This role involves extended periods away from home attending classroom-based training and carrying out meter exchanges as part of your field-based training which we are unable to guaranteed will be in your local area. Expected duration of training bundles are 3-4 months over 2 separate periods.
