Here's what you'll be doing

Right now, we now have an exciting opportunity at our CHP plant in Kemsley. This flexible two-shifting plant has the capacity to generate up to 80MW of electricity and 200MW of heat. You’ll be part of the onsite team that ensures the smooth running of its day-to-day operation.

This is a busy role that will see you performing a wide range of tasks. You’ll be responsible for ensuring the safe, environmentally compliant and efficient operation of the plant while meeting customers' requirements in accordance with contractual, environmental and operational needs.

Key responsibilities include

  • Delivering availability and reliability through investigations of fault conditions and incidents.
  • Actively promoting a culture of health, safety and environmental awareness.
  • Prioritising workload and resource.
  • Providing first line maintenance and fault diagnosis, escalating to the maintenance team when required.
  • Proactively supporting the maintenance team during technical projects and planned and reactive maintenance activities.
  • Contributing to developing the site Health & Safety plan and taking responsibility for implementing site objectives.
  • Liaising with the client to ensure the site’s contractual obligations are maintained and a good working relationship is promoted.
  • Supporting and working closely with other members of the site teams.

What we need from you

  • Substantial relevant practical experience (Process, Electrical, C&I, Mechanical) within a similar role and/or process industry.
  • Capability of enacting all defined roles within the Electrical & Mechanical (E&M) Safety Rules, achieving all nominations required within agreed timescales.
  • Clear knowledge and understanding of safety and environmental management including operational polices, standards, frameworks and statutory legislation.
  • IOSH (Managing Safely), or equivalent qualification, demonstrating a clear knowledge of safety practices and management.
  • A working knowledge of key PC based computer systems.

It would be great if you had

  • Achieved, or working towards, NVQ level 3 in Power Plant Operations, or equivalent qualification.
