We are looking for a permanent Data Governance Analyst to join our team based at our London Citigen site- Farringdon.

Here's what you'll be doing

As a Data Governance Analyst, you’ll play an important role in supporting how data is captured, understood and used across our Heat Networks Operations & Maintenance business. Working closely with operational teams, contractors and technical specialists, you’ll investigate data quality issues, identify root causes both remotely and on site, and help improve how information flows from our assets into reporting platforms. By combining data analysis with real-world operational insight, you’ll help ensure our reporting drives performance, supports decision-making and enables continuous improvement across the business. 

Key responsibilities

  • Develop in depth knowledge of the Heat Networks business to support data & reporting needs and identify end to end data complexity issues.
  • Understand business challenges and opportunities and identify where data issues are key that influence critical business KPIs.
  • Work with existing reporting and build own program of work with regular meetings with senior data engineer that Identify and root cause analysis of issues relating to data quality, gaps or inconsistencies.
  • Facilitate meetings and presentations for requirement gathering and the communication of knowledge, insight and recommendations clearly, succinct and action orientated.
  • Engage and advise operational teams to key focus areas highlighted through on field or office-based analysis for improvements.
  • Enhance knowledge with an understanding of the industry and external developments that may influence the business, either as threats or opportunities.
  • Resolve problems that stakeholders bring forward and respond in an organised manner finding the main cause of problems.
  • Be a domain knowledge and technology expert, drive the adoption of good data practices across the EIS community.
  • Willingness to attend sites that have data related issues and work closely with our asset communication department on solution.
  • Hands on activities include restarting comms devices that have frozen that contribute to data issues, establish meters that are failing, require upgrades etc.
  • Capabilities to raise relevant PPMs that conforms to our health & safety procedures.
  • Forward thinking of how to stop the tap of inconsistent data, provide solutions based theories that provide return on investment for future growth.
  • Working with network / comms colleagues to build robust processes to future proof our business with accurate data.
  • Build relationships and work collaboratively across EIS.

What we need from you

  • Experience strong data analysis experience, using insight to support operational or business performance improvements.
  • Experience working with large datasets and investigating data quality or performance issues.
  • Experience using data visualisation tools such as Power BI to create clear and meaningful reporting.
  • Understanding of Building Management Systems (BMS), metering systems or operational technologies within utilities, facilities, or similar environments.
  • Knowledge of communication protocols such as M-Bus, Modbus or similar network/data communication systems.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify root causes and implement practical solutions.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with operational teams and influence stakeholders to drive improvements.

It would be great if you have

  • Understanding of the Heat Networks business and its key data points.
  • Knowledge of regulation reporting like RHI, CHPQA, Carbon, HNTAS etc.
