As a Street Lighting Project Engineer, you’ll help drive the successful delivery of street lighting and electrical installation projects—from creating competitive quotations to ensuring every stage of delivery runs smoothly. You’ll champion efficiency and quality, support our growth ambitions, and contribute to winning new opportunities.

Working alongside a talented and supportive team, you’ll help bring our projects to life and deliver exceptional experiences for our customers.

Key responsibilities

  • Accurately price street lighting works, issue competitive quotes, and ensure timely follow-up with detailed information to support effective review and maintain strong market positioning.
  • Assist in leading the Northampton team on a day-to-day basis, fostering collaboration and driving operational excellence.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with major customers, negotiating win–win agreements that deliver value for both parties.
  • Ensure all works are efficiently and effectively managed from start to finish, including financial tracking and performance monitoring.
  • Act as the primary contact for resolving complaints from key customers, ensuring issues are handled promptly and in line with company policies.
  • Take ownership of all aspects of Safety, Health, Welfare, and Environmental standards, promoting a proactive approach to compliance and risk management.
  • Complete invoicing promptly to meet personal and depot financial targets, including regular management and chasing of outstanding debt.

What we need from you

  • Experience in street lighting works and a solid understanding of industry standards and highway electrical supplies, including DNO, IDNO, PCN, and passively safe systems.
  • Proficient in Microsoft tools for quotes, pricing, and schedules, plus experience in electrical designs and layout drawings.
  • Strong numerical skills, including data interpretation, basic accounting, and tracking project-level financial performance.
  • Proven commercial awareness with the ability to develop key relationships and negotiate win–win outcomes.
  • Understanding of New Connections challenges with confidence to make effective decisions under pressure.
  • Excellent interpersonal, influencing, and diplomatic communication skills.
