Here's what you'll be doing
As part of the UK Corporate Audit team, you will provide management with assurance on the adequacy and effectiveness of the system of internal controls within E.ON UK.
This is achieved by evaluating processes from the perspective of governance, risk management and control, then agreeing insightful, future-focussed, value adding recommendations with management.
- Undertake internal audits of the Group sites and businesses to an agreed programme of visits, auditing internal control systems and business processes, and alongside supporting Group led audits in the UK.
- Analyse processes, systems and the overarching business context to develop value adding, pragmatic recommendations to improve processes and controls which support the corporate governance requirements of the company.
- Deliver well written reports which clearly articulate the business context, audit findings, risks and recommendations.
- Monitor the implementation of audit actions and provide robust, constructive, appropriate challenge to senior managers and directors on governance, risk and control issues, as required.
- Contribute to the annual Corporate Audit Risk Assessment and Planning processes ensuring a smart, risk-based approach and the development of a solid audit plan.
- Contribute to the improvement and innovation of the Corporate Audit function, systems and processes.
- Collaborate across other business functions to identify opportunities or emerging risks related to governance, risk and control as well as ensuring a standard approach is adopted to managing compliance.
- Improve control awareness across the Group by providing internal consultancy and expertise on all matters relating to internal control practice.
- Trouble-shoot and conduct special audits, as required.
What we need from you
Essential
- Extensive experience of auditing governance, risk management and control frameworks.
- An accounting or audit qualification (e.g. ACA, CIMA, ACCA, Certified or Chartered Internal Auditor).
- Ability to develop and manage robust stakeholder relationships and to effectively persuade and influence up to UK Leadership Team and Board level.
- Highly-developed verbal and written communication skills to conduct audit interviews and meetings effectively and to clearly and concisely present the findings to management in a written report.
- Well-developed strategic thinking skills, with ability to think laterally and demonstrate ability to identify the most appropriate course of action.
- Ability to manage own workload and schedule all required activities to ensure that audits are completed to the required standards and that all Corporate Audit KPIs and Quality Gates are achieved.
- Flexible travel required to cover UK and occasionally Overseas locations.
Desirable
- 2 – 4 Years of external or internal audit experience
- Knowledge of the energy industry regulatory environment and a robust understanding of the commercial risks surrounding the business.
- Significant experience of Energy industry processes and procedures
- Data Analytics experience
- Experience of operating in different cultural environments
