Here's what you'll be doing
Lead the Future of Digital Innovation. Shape Technology that Powers Human Experience.
Are you ready to lead at the intersection of cutting-edge technology, behavioural insight, and operational excellence? We are looking for a visionary Director of UK Technology Delivery to drive transformational outcomes across our UK business. This is a rare opportunity to deliver world-class digital products and services that are not only technically outstanding but deeply intuitive and emotionally resonant for the people who use them.
As Technology Director, you will be at the forefront of shaping how technology drives business growth, not just by solving problems, but by anticipating human behaviour and creating seamless, engaging experiences. You'll champion a product-led, DevOps-enabled model and be a key architect of our technology strategy, ensuring we stay ahead in a fast-evolving digital landscape.
Key Responsibilities
-
Lead the design, development, and lifecycle of scalable, secure, and customer-centric digital products and platforms.
-
Champion a forward-looking technology strategy aligned to business growth, leveraging emerging technologies like AI, ML, IoT, blockchain, edge computing, and real-time analytics.
-
Embed automation and innovation across the product lifecycle to deliver scalable, efficient, and human-focused experiences.
-
Drive a culture of DevOps, agile delivery, and continuous improvement across internal teams and external partners.
-
Build and lead a high-performing, multidisciplinary team to maximise the value of our digital and technology capabilities across the UK business.
-
Partner closely with UK Digital & Technology (DT), Emerging Digital Technologies (EDT), and external partners to deliver growth-enabling, tech-driven solutions.
-
Oversee the resilience, security-by-design, and performance of the entire technology ecosystem, including SaaS and third-party platforms.
-
Lead the democratisation and secure integration of emerging technologies across the organisation.
-
Reduce technical debt and improve efficiency through automation, analytics, and modern platform engineering.
What we need from you
- Senior-level leadership experience within the UK energy sector or a closely related digital/regulated industry.
- Strong understanding of the UK energy market, government policy, and the evolving UK energy system.
- A proven track record of leading large-scale digital and technology transformation initiatives, with a strong background in software engineering, cloud technologies, and emerging tech (AI, automation, analytics).
- Experience designing and scaling secure, resilient technology ecosystems with modern architectural practices (e.g. microservices, CI/CD, DevOps).
- A clear innovation mindset with a demonstrable history of adopting and embedding emerging technologies to drive business outcomes and customer value.
- Experience in product-led organisations, working closely with product, design, and behavioural insight teams to create intuitive and impactful customer experiences.
- Proven ability to build, lead, and inspire diverse technology teams, collaborating effectively across business units, senior stakeholders, and external partners, up to board level.
- Strategic thinker with a commercial mindset, able to connect technical delivery with business value, manage risk proactively, and align with business priorities.
