Energy Infrastructure Services (EIS) part of E.ON UK consists of multiple functions including Commercial, Operations, Lighting and Grid, Strategy Growth & Compliance and Go to Market.

 

Here's what you will be doing

We are looking for a permanent Regulation Lead. In this role you will provide direction for the management of regulatory and industry expertise and advice on behalf of EIS.

 

This will include responsibility of financial, customer and the operational impacts associated with regulatory and industry compliance, change and future developments. 

 

Primary focus on navigating the EIS specific regulatory environment in order to provide regulatory and industry advice to support the growth and compliance agenda within EIS, looking for opportunities, influencing change and ensuring EIS understand Regulatory/ Industry opportunities and threats.

 

You will be a Regulatory Subject Matter Expert and lead within the EIS Compliance Team.

 

Key Responsibilities of the role

  • Horizon scanning and providing consistent, accurate and effective regulatory and industry advice/guidance to EIS in a challenging and rapidly evolving regulatory and business environment. 
  • Building effective relationships across EIS and with other Regulatory teams within E.ON UK and also the industry and regulator and as appropriate other industry stakeholders.
  • Communication of relevant industry and regulatory decisions and how these outcomes are threats or opportunities for EIS.
  • Provide internal briefings, written and oral for senior managers; translating new or amended licence and industry obligations into what they mean for the business.
  • Developing efficient and co-ordinated communications channels to and from the industry and within the appropriate areas of the business, in respect of industry change and compliance.
  • Representing EIS externally including with key regulatory, industry and consumer stakeholders, seeking to influence and deeply understand the implications of the regulatory environment.
  • Managing responses to Regulatory / industry changes, consultations, requests for information and representing EIS’s best interests, ensuring a one EIS voice.
  • Accountable for enabling and providing a clear explanation of the causal effects of regulatory and industry changes on EIS.
  • Technical knowledge of relevant regulations, codes and industry agreements including but not limited to:
    • Gas and Electricity Acts
    • Gas and Electricity licenses and conditions (including smart meter communication conditions)
    • Exemptions from licences
    • Industry Codes
  • Acting as a shadow regulator by applying a regulatory lens on EIS activities actual or planned, being an independent critical eye.

What we need from you

  • Significant experience of influencing and understanding the regulatory landscape relevant to the Energy Industry.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and drive change at a senior management Level.  The face of E.ON EIS with key regulatory stakeholders and external representatives.
  • Good knowledge of industry codes and practices.
  • Clear track record of being able to translate compliance requirements into measures and language that the operation and front-line staff can easily understand.
  • Evidence of regulatory understanding and interpretation.
  • Experience of risk and opportunity management and reporting with an eye for detail to ensure accuracy plus the ability to make the complicated simple for the audience.
  • Strong influencing / communication skills, able to develop a strong rapport and credibility with stakeholders from front-line to board level and able to influence without direct authority.
  • Evidence of delivering compliance objectives in a dynamic, customer focused business.
