SEO Manager

Here's what you'll be doing

We are looking for a SEO Manager to join our team on a 6 month fixed term contract. The role will be based at our Nottingham office and is hybrid working (2-3 days a week onsite)

Are you passionate about driving measurable commercial growth through innovative organic search strategies? Join E.ON as our SEO Manager, where you will own and deliver impactful SEO/ GEO initiatives that power pipeline generation and conversion.

In this role you are responsible for leading and delivering organic search strategy to drive qualified demand and commercial growth. The role proactively identifies opportunities, owns end-to-end implementation and ensures measurable business impact through data-led decision making.

Main responsibilities of the role

SEO/ GEO strategy and commercial ownership;

  • Develop and deliver a comprehensive SEO strategy aligned to commercial priorities, target audiences, and business growth objectives.
  • Ensure SEO supports pipeline generation, demand capture, and conversion (not just traffic growth).
  • Identify high-value opportunities across technical, content and authority levers and prioritise based on impact and effort.
  • Integrate SEO into wider digital and GTM (Go to Market) strategies to ensure organic search is fully leveraged as a growth channel.
  • Actively own optimisations rather than operating purely in a briefing or advisory capacity.

AI search and future-facing search optimisation;

  • Define which keywords and content to optimise within LLMs (Large Language Model) in order to promote brand visibility.
  • Adapt GEO strategy to evolving AI-driven search environments (AI Overviews, generative search, entity-based search, and LLMs engines).
  • Ensure content and site structure support visibility in AI-generated search results and emerging discovery platforms.
  • Optimise content for semantic relevance, authority, and structured data to support AI understanding and visibility in LLMs where relevant.
  • Stay ahead of search evolution and ensure the business remains competitive in AI-mediated search.

Technical SEO and site health;

  • Take direct ownership of technical SEO, proactively identifying, prioritising, and implementing fixes where possible or collaborate with development teams where deeper technical changes are required, ensuring clear briefs and follow-through.
  • Use tools such as Screaming Frog, GSC, and site auditing platforms to diagnose and resolve technical issues.
  • Implement fixes directly where possible to site health including metadata updates, redirects, internal linking improvements, schema markup, indexing fixes.
  • Maintain site health monitoring and ensure ongoing technical optimisation.
  • Ensure website architecture and code structure are optimised for search engines, while also monitoring and adapting to SEO best practices.

Content enablement;

  • Define target keyword list and content opportunities based on search demand, commercial value, and audience intent.
  • Provide clear SEO briefs, keyword targeting, and optimisation guidance to Content teams.
  • Support content optimisation, ensuring pages are structured for discoverability, engagement, and conversion.
  • Partner with Content and CRO teams to ensure content supports both visibility and commercial outcomes.

Performance tracking and tools;

  • Own SEO performance measurement and reporting, ensuring clear visibility of impact across traffic, leads, and conversion to sale.
  • Set up, maintain, and optimise SEO tools and reporting infrastructure (e.g. GSC, Conductor, Ahrefs) to ensure accurate tracking, monitoring, and insight generation.
  • Translate performance data into actionable insights and recommendations to drive optimisation and commercial impact.
  • Clearly communicate performance, opportunities, risks, and recommendations to stakeholders and leadership.
  • Ensure tracking and reporting infrastructure supports ongoing optimisation and informed decision-making.
  • Continuously improve tooling, reporting processes, and automation to increase efficiency, scalability, and effectiveness of SEO activity.

Authority building and external visibility;

  • Identify opportunities to strengthen site authority and visibility through strategic link acquisition and digital PR collaboration.
  • Support thought leadership and content distribution strategies to enhance discoverability and credibility.

Collaboration and leadership;

  • Work closely with UX, CRO, Content, Analytics, and Development teams to embed SEO best practice.
  • Ensure SEO considerations are integrated into website development, content creation, and optimisation workflows.
  • Act as the subject matter expert on organic search and guide stakeholders on best practice.

What we need from you

  • Understanding of evolving search landscapes, including AI-driven search, semantic search, and structured data principles.
  • Extensive experience in SEO with a proven track record of driving organic growth, qualified demand, and measurable commercial impact.
  • Strong technical SEO expertise, with the ability to identify, prioritise, and implement technical fixes to improve crawlability, indexation, and overall site health.
  • Experience setting up, managing, and optimising SEO/GEO tools and reporting infrastructure (e.g. Google Search Console, Ahrefs, Conductor, Screaming Frog).
  • Experience implementing technical SEO changes directly i.e. metadata updates, redirects, internal linking, schema markup.
  • Strong analytical capability, with the ability to translate data into actionable insights and prioritised optimisation plans.
  • Experience briefing and supporting content optimisation aligned to search demand, user intent, and commercial goals.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence cross-functional teams and present recommendations clearly.
  • Ability to work both strategically and hands-on, independently identifying and delivering improvements
