Here's what you'll be doing
We operate one of the largest streetlights contracting businesses in the UK, with a large presence in the Midlands and the North West. As well as providing new installations for most of the UK’s housing developers, we also work for the majority of the local authorities in our areas. Right now, we’re looking for a Highways Electrician to join our E.ON Utility Solutions team based in Rochdale.
In this role, you'll be responsible for carrying out the routine maintenance, inspection and electrical testing of street lighting and highway electrical assets across the Oldham and Rochdale Street Lighting PFI contract. You'll also support the installation, wiring and maintenance of street lighting and other highway electrical equipment, as well as undertaking fault finding, periodic electrical testing of underground cable networks and testing of individual electrical assets. Following training, you'll have the opportunity to carry out limited connections to DNO, IDNO and PCN networks.
Based primarily across the North West of England, you'll work as part of a skilled team helping to keep our street lighting infrastructure safe, reliable and operational. There may also be opportunities to support projects in other regions when required.
Responsibilities include
- Routine electrical street lighting maintenance and installation.
- Non-routine electrical street lighting maintenance including fault finding and repairs.
- Electrical testing of private cable networks
- Electrical installations on new and exisitng apparatus.
- Driving and operating company vehicles appropriate to the role.
- Carry out risk assessments and work to company policies and procedures.
- Work on own initiative or as part of a team and supervision of a working party.
- Attending emergencies as required.
- Use of hand held electronic devices to record information.
- Maintain safe standards throughout the delivery of work
- Delivery of work to maintain productivity expectations.
- Contribute to deliver team objectives.
- Delivery of work associated with the installation repair and maintenance of highways electrical assets in and out of core regional geographic area.
- Flexible to work on multiple sites across a wide geographic area.
What we need from you
- Level 2 and level 3 certificate in Highway Electrical work or equivalent qualification, such as C&G 236 part 1 and 2.
- NVQ Level 3 in Highway Electrical Work.
- 714 Initial and Periodic Electrical Inspection & Testing of installations
- 210 Working in the vicinity of DNO / iDNO equipment
- First Aid at work
- 104 Manual Handling
- G39
- BS7671 : 2018 Level 3 Award for Electrical Installations.
- A current full UK driving licence up to and including 3.5t, ideally 7.5t or higher
- A current IPAF licence.
